Andrew’s story:

From budding footballer to AFM Expert Tutor.

As a child, I just wanted to play football. Captain of the school’s first team, I dreamt of one day playing for Luton (more on that later!).

But alongside football, I loved numbers. Maths and science were always my favourite subjects.

So my journey into the world of finance began with a simple fascination for how numbers tell a story. This led me to pursue a BSc in Chemistry at Imperial College London, where I honed my analytical and problem-solving skills.

After graduating, I joined PwC, a global leader in professional services. It was there, immersed in the dynamic world of finance, that I qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Those years provided invaluable experience, but I soon discovered my true calling lay in sharing my knowledge and passion for finance with others.

Having enjoyed studying for my exams, and inspired by some incredible tutors (including Ben Wilson!), I made the leap into teaching at Kaplan.

I spent over 10 years teaching at Kaplan, including teaching several global prizewinners, and moved into management - managing, recruiting and training new tutors.

Having helped thousands of students to pass their accountancy exams, I decided to set up Andrew Mower Tuition to focus on helping ACCA students pass their AFM exams.

There's nothing quite like the feeling of seeing a student grasp a complex concept and achieve their goals. It's incredibly rewarding.

My approach to teaching is all about making learning simple, engaging and fun. I believe in cutting through complexity and presenting information in a clear, concise way.

Students love my bite-size videos and the way I relate subjects to the real world, which makes AFM easy and fun to learn.

Teaching Philosophy

My approach is simple.

1. Learn

Use my notes and concise, bite-size videos to learn the key concepts.

2. Observe

Watch as I work through questions, showing the exact approach you need to tackle AFM questions.

3. Practice

You then have a go yourself at questions and quizzes to learn for yourself.

This powerful technique is proven to be successful.

And don’t forget, I’m always just a WhatsApp message away for when you need a hand.

Beyond AFM

When I’m not helping students to pass AFM, I will be spending time with my family (wife and 2 young kids), training at the gym, or playing/watching football.

I am a big Luton Town fan, which (like ACCA exams!) is often hard work but can be rewarding at times.

I also love TV and music - I’m always open to recommendations for new shows or bands to listen to!
